You're engaged, set your date, picked a venue, and found a photographer you love--but before you book, they want to do a phone call. This is the perfect time to ask your burning questions to be sure your photographer is the perfect fit! Here are three things you might ask:
1. What precautions do you take against equipment failure on wedding days? SD cards can fail, and the last thing you want is to lose the majority (or all) of your wedding photos to a card failure! In my business, I use dual-slot camera bodies, meaning each sd card I use has a backup! I also strongly recommend a second shooter for weddings for many reasons, one of which being the extra set of backups during key moments!

2. What is your posing style like? You need to feel comfortable with your photographer's posing style in order to capture the "look" you have in mind! Whether it's staged, magazine worthy photos or romantic, free-spirited images, your wedding photographer's posing style will play a major role in the images you get. For example, I have a big preference for prompts over poses, meaning you get to truly experience the moments being photographed. But I'm also not afraid to move you towards the best light, adjust a stray hair, or ask you to give that kiss again so I can get it on camera from the perfect angle!

3. What is your post-wedding process--in other words, how soon will I get to see pictures? This question is so important! Your photographer will have a contract that declares their official, formal delivery time. However, you might want to know this info before moving to the contract phase! I'd recommend asking what they typically do for sneak peeks and final gallery. Delivery time can vary by season, so this is particularly helpful info to learn early on so that you are not left uncertain about when you will have your wedding photos.

I hope this list helps you to feel better prepared for your Discovery Call!
